Scope an LNG project before trying to solve it.

A fictional coastal region is evaluating new LNG import infrastructure to support industrial and power demand. The sponsor has identified potential waterfront access and preliminary demand, but the project has not reached a feasibility conclusion. The team must decide what must be defined, evidenced and coordinated before the concept can responsibly advance.

The scenario intentionally omits many facts. Students should not invent certainty; they should identify the missing information and explain why it matters.

1. Open the LNG Project Readiness tool and select the project type and current stage that best match the scenario.
2. For each workstream, decide whether the case provides enough evidence to mark it Defined, Partly defined or Not defined.
3. Copy the generated readiness brief.
4. For every Partly defined or Not defined workstream, state the evidence, study, stakeholder input or professional discipline required next.
5. Identify at least five critical interfaces between workstreams.
6. Propose a stage-gate package: what would have to be true before recommending the concept move to the next development stage?

A 5–10 page project scoping memorandum or a 10–15 minute team presentation containing the readiness brief, evidence gaps, interface map, proposed workplan and a clear explanation of what cannot yet be concluded.
